Can you lose weight in Dubai without giving up the food?

Yes, if the plan is built around how you actually eat. Life in the UAE comes with a few habits that add up without you noticing.

  • Karak chai: sweet and made with evaporated milk, and easy to drink three or four times a day. Your plan sets how many cups fit, and how to make them lighter.
  • Shawarma and Karama or Deira dinners: fine as planned meals. A chicken shawarma plate with salad, or a karahi with one naan, works better than a late-night roll with fries.
  • Weekend brunch: with the weekend on Saturday and Sunday for most people, brunch becomes a fixed habit. Plan a light breakfast and dinner on those days, and fill your first plate with protein and salad.
  • Delivery apps: keep two or three go-to orders that fit your plan, so a tired evening doesn't decide dinner.

How do you stay active in the UAE summer?

For several months a year, it's too hot to walk outside during the day. Walk early in the morning or late in the evening, or indoors: malls, building gyms and corridors, or the stairs in your tower.

The Signature plan includes an optional home exercise routine matched to your goal and conditions, with an animated guide for every movement, so you can train in your flat. Drink water through the day; sweet drinks and juices add up fast in the heat.

Why should South Asians in the UAE watch their weight?

South Asians tend to face health risks at a lower weight than many people expect. A University of Warwick study found the type 2 diabetes risk seen at a BMI of 30 in white populations was reached at 23.9 in South Asian populations.

Our guide to healthy BMI for South Asians shows how to check your own numbers, and insulin resistance explains a common early warning sign.

How do you get lab tests in the UAE?

You don't need tests to start. If you have recent results, send them to us; Signature plans include a Lab Insight Review of results such as haemoglobin, HbA1c, vitamin D, cholesterol and thyroid.

In the UAE, use a lab or clinic licensed by the health authority for your emirate (DHA in Dubai, DOH in Abu Dhabi). Many offer home sampling. Check with your insurer which tests your plan covers, and ask your doctor which ones make sense for you.

What does a day on the plan look like in Dubai?

Here is an example office day. It shows the pattern; your own plan gives every portion in grams, set for your body and your goal.

WhenExample
BreakfastEggs with one roti, or a paratha made with less ghee
Mid-morningOne karak chai with less sugar
LunchA chicken shawarma plate with salad instead of fries, or a choice from the canteen
EveningA walk in the mall or the tower gym, then fruit
DinnerHome-cooked daal or chicken karahi with one roti

On brunch days, breakfast is skipped or kept small, and dinner is light.

How do time zones and prices work from the UAE?

The UAE is one hour behind Pakistan, so a video call after work in Dubai is early evening for us. WhatsApp messages can be sent at any time.

Clients outside Pakistan pay in US dollars: Core is USD 40 and Signature USD 60 for 28 days, and we confirm how to pay on WhatsApp or by email. Every plan is reviewed by Nida Tu Sehar, Nutritionist and Dietitian, and arrives within 48 hours. See plans and pricing, or read our guide to Pakistani food abroad.

Who reviews your plan

01 Is NutriZaika licensed in the UAE?

No. NutriZaika is an online nutrition studio, and Nida Tu Sehar is a Nutritionist and Dietitian trained and working in Pakistan. We are not licensed by DHA or DOH, so if you need a dietitian as part of medical treatment in the UAE, ask your doctor for a referral there.

02 Can you plan around a work canteen or a shared kitchen?

Yes. Tell us what your canteen or shared kitchen serves and when you eat. We plan choices from that menu and simple food you can add yourself, such as eggs, yoghurt or fruit, so the plan works with the kitchen you have.

03 What currency do I pay in?

Prices outside Pakistan are in US dollars, which allows for transfer fees and exchange rates. Message us on WhatsApp or email support and we'll confirm the easiest way to pay from the UAE.

04 Can my plan cover Ramadan?

Yes. Tell us at your assessment and your plan is built around sehri, iftar and the shorter working hours many offices keep in Ramadan. Iftar buffets and Ramadan tents are planned for: dates and water first, then one measured plate. If you have diabetes or take medicines, ask your doctor before you fast.
